This is a really exciting opportunity for an experienced SME Financial Controller to help turnaround and streamline a specialist Manufacturing business, based in Coventry, Warwickshire. The business is strong - but the company needs extra support from a qualified Financial Controller (no. 1 in finance) who can business partner Operations, improve the financial reporting and control activities, instigate change, and see the 'Bigger Picture' - helping to transform the business in partnership with the MD. As Financial Controller within this specialist Manufacturing SME in Coventry, your responsibilities will be hands-on and wide-ranging, including: Working closely with the Managing Director, Senior Management Team and Operations to get a better understanding of current business practice and procedures; constructively challenge, and identify opportunities for process, automation and system improvements. Lead the company's financial accounting, reporting and control activities, ensuring they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice. This will include: Timely Month End and Year End Reporting to Head Office, including Management Accounts, Statutory Accounts, weekly sales and orders, maintaining accurate monthly records, and answering any resulting questions from reviews. Tax Pack and Quarterly VAT returns. Maintaining an appropriate control environment. Completion of the internal controls declaration and development, implementation and reporting of the improvement plan. Managing and developing the Finance team, and overseeing balance sheet reconciliations, stock control cycle, costing, sales ledger, payroll queries, supplier statement reconciliations, purchase ledger, new contracts, lease renewals etc Monthly budget / forecast versus actual spend by department. HO and budget holders to identify spend outside of the budget for the remainder of the year and highlighting potential areas of under/ over spend with reasoning. Cashflow and variance analysis. Margin review and monitoring on-going projects. Monitoring CAPEX projects. Labour and Overhead reviews. Main liaison for external auditors, bank relationship manager and payroll software providers. To be successful in this Financial Controller role, we are seeking a fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) who has previous financial control experience within a manufacturing or engineering SME. In person you must be a team-player, approachable, outgoing, and with a true business partnering attitude. You will be adept at working pro-actively, using your own initiative, exercising independence and challenge constructively - someone who can apply judgement in difficult situations. From a technical point of view, we need an accountant who has experience of working with large volumes of data, ensuring a high level of accuracy is maintained; someone who can identify opportunities for process, automation and system improvements, and with a strong understanding of corporate governance and legal requirements. You will be used to working to tight reporting deadlines set by Head Office, and maintain a good working relationship with the HQ team. The salary for this Financial Controller role in Coventry is likely to be between £65,000 - £75,000 depending on experience, and you will also receive private healthcare, pension, bonus and other benefits in line with a SMT post.
