Head of Finance Circa £43,000 - £50,000 plus contributory pension scheme depending on experience Holiday entitlement: 25 days plus 3 between Christmas and New Year and Statutory holidays (pro-rata for part-time working hours) This position is working for a major charity and they are seeking to appoint a Head of Finance who is Fully Qualified as soon as possible Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Resources, the Head of Finance leads the running of the charity's finance operations, to provide an efficient, professional, accurate and robust service to maximise the use of resources and achieve the charity's strategy, supporting a growing charity, and the vision to make a direct difference for people affected by cancer. Job Purpose This involves working closely with the Director of Finance and Resources and the rest of the leadership team, as well as being part of the charity's management team, to act as a finance business partner, supporting and advising where financial decisions are required. Key priorities for the role include the following: Work closely with senior leaders and managers to provide support, insight and advice on decisions with financial or commercial implications Work with the Director of Finance and Resources to ensure annual accounts cycle is managed to prepare annual reporting of accounts to meet required deadlines Lead on the annual budgeting and business planning cycle, ensuring involvement and communication with Directors and Heads of all teams EXPERIENCE Significant experience of: A good understanding of statutory and management accounting ideally with knowledge of charity SORP t including developing and monitoring performance management systems to manage both operational and project work Good knowledge of accounting software packages (preferably Sage 50) Knowledge of health and safety legislation Knowledge of charity law Charity experience highly desirable SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to build relationships with colleagues and external suppliers and an ability to present financial information to non - financial staff Advanced Excel skills (e.g. import/export data, pivot tables etc.) and competent in use of office programs A track record demonstrating a combination of commercial acumen, analytical rigour, attention to detail and ability to prioritise conflicting priorities and work to deadlines Ability to work well cross - functionally and to lead on specific projects PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS A positive, hands-on 'can do' attitude, with energy and enthusiasm for the cause.
