The Finance Assistant will provide support to the Finance Manager in the day-to-day running of the finance function. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Administration of the sales and purchase ledgers; Entering invoices onto the finance system, ensuring that invoices are analysed and coded correctly; Monthly reconciliations of key supplier accounts and liaison with suppliers regarding any queries; Liaison with the company's suppliers to ensure that products are sourced and costed as effectively as possible; Proposing supplier payments; Assisting the Finance Manager with the month end procedures including; Banks, petty cash, and credit card reconciliations; Trade debtor reconciliations; Trade creditor reconciliations; HMRC liability reconciliations; Fixed asset register reconciliations; Intercompany reconciliations; Posting of month end journals such as prepayments, accruals, depreciation, interest etc; Petty cash management; Banking; Monitoring of 13-week cashflows; Preparation of VAT, CIS and other HMRC returns, ensuring that information is submitted accurately and on time; Processing of weekly and monthly payroll and ensuring that staff are paid on time; Administration of workplace pension; Maintenance of the companies' fixed asset registers; Management of rental businesses, including: Ensuring rents are received on time and in accordance with rental agreements; Distribution of funds to landlords for whom we act as agent; General administration of the finance office; Other ad-hoc tasks as required.
