Description
Ocado Graduates

We are looking for 70 graduates across 10 schemes to join our fast paced, dynamic and innovative company. Ocado has been growing rapidly and through this we are giving real responsibility and autonomy to our graduates. Graduates will not just fill spaces, but we will give you genuine development opportunities to become future leaders and rise quickly through the company to help shape the future of Ocado.

What we want from our Finance candidates

Do you have a passion for numbers? Are you capable of analysing and interpreting data? Do you want to progress with a career in finance and gain professional qualifications?

The Finance Scheme

The programme is designed to support you in becoming a Finance leader of tomorrow. This 3 year programme will involve a series of one year placements across a variety of Finance areas including: Retail, Operations, Central, Technology and Group Finance.

Potential Placements include:

1st year – Your first year forms a balance of reporting into options such as Retail, KPI’s, Logistics Development and Solutions, as well as projects to help you discover about the finance at Ocado. You will present your reports to finance directors and it is expected that you are the focal point of your work, knowing the numbers better than anyone else and you can tell the story of what they say.

2nd year – This rotation will depend on the capability and experience you have gained in your first year. The more you have networked and applied yourself, the more responsibility you will be given. This can be taking a lesser known part of the business and building relationships there to create your own project. You will start to own processes and manipulate data in your role. This second year can involve more ‘value added’ processes to the company.

3rd year – With your experience, you can be assigned projects where the business needs you. Graduates in their third year are seen more as individuals out right, and take on far more responsibility than a graduate could assume. Graduates in the past have gone on to look after the finances for Central or Retail at Ocado.

Learning & Development

You will be sponsored to do either ACCA or CIMA qualification through the apprenticeship scheme, to ensure you gain the tools you need to accelerate your career. You will have a mentor to support, what we hope will be, a long career at Ocado. In addition, there will also be an array of learning & development opportunities available to all graduates here at Ocado from negotiation training courses to presentation skill workshops. Ocado will provide you with study leave to take your ACCA and CIMA qualifications.

What do we need from you?

  • Numerate or Analytical Degree (2:1 and above) with A-Level grades ABB (or equivalent UCAS points)
  • Numerate and analytical thinking with experience in retail or consumer-facing FMCG
  • Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent Excel skills and knowledge of SQL and Tableau would be advantageous, but are not required

 Benefits

  • Ocado pension scheme with company contributions of up to 7%
  • Private medical insurance
  • Free Ocado shares awarded each year
  • 23 days holiday, increasing to 25 with three years' service
  • Staff discount on the Ocado website and it’s sites Fetch, Fabled and Sizzle
  • Discounts at Cineworld, Buyagift, Prezzo, Chimichanga, Vodafone and many more!

Right to Work

You must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme (24 months), be flexible to travel whilst on a placement and be fluent in English.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Ocado is an equal opportunities employer and as such makes every effort to ensure that all potential employees are treated fairly and equally, regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, marital status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion, age, disability or union membership status.

Start Date

The expected start date for this programme will be early September.

Company

Our know-how and technology is at the core of our business.

To build our pioneering online shopping and fulfilment business model, we had to design our own proprietary solutions from scratch: there was no blueprint to follow; no off-the-shelf solution to buy.

Ocado at a glance

Ocado was established in the UK over 16 years ago and listed on the London Stock Exchange in July 2010. We are the world’s largest dedicated online grocery retailer with over 580,000 active customers shopping with us today. Our objective is to provide our customers with the best shopping experience in terms of service, range and price, which builds a strong business and delivers long term value for our shareholders.

We have developed a unique end-to-end operating solution for online grocery retail based on proprietary technology and IP, suitable for operating our own business and those of our commercial partners.

The world is changing fast, driven by different shopping habits and ever more advanced technology for the consumer. Grocery is the largest of all retail segments and is moving online. Moreover, the rapid growth of shopping using mobile devices opens new opportunities. We are well positioned to take advantage of these long-term structural trends for the benefit of our customers, partners and shareholders.
