As a Manager in the European based M&A team, the successful candidate will be tasked with supporting transactions primarily in UK/Ireland and other international markets, Global Brands (including manufacturing and sourcing), Pharmaceutical and the Healthcare Platform.

M&A projects are generally very confidential and high profile with the potential to create significant long term shareholder value. M&A is unbudgeted and therefore deals are subject to approval on a project by project basis via  group approval, a process which entails the preparation of key internal documents for Board-level review

As a result there is considerable visibility within the role and a technically strong, commercially insightful and well-rounded corporate finance professional with M&A experience is essential.

In a small team, the role provides significant exposure to the company's leadership and encompasses participating in larger project cross-functional and cross-divisional teams, as well as taking end-to-end ownership of smaller ones.

 Key Responsibilities:

Support, manage and execute M&A transactions (including global and US-based as required) professionally and efficiently including, manage project teams; supervise due diligence, identify, highlight and seek ways to mitigate deal risks, propose optimal deal structures, develop and oversee valuations, review and negotiate key legal documents, prepare internal approval documents, co-ordinate communications;, plan integration. 

To evaluate identified opportunities against the group's strategic goals and core investment metrics, in conjunction with divisions, strategy and finance teams. 

Assist in identifying potential opportunities by working with divisions and the group strategy team to determine inorganic strategy & conducting and supporting ongoing sector and company research efforts.

Actively support post-investment appraisal and other learning processes.

Supervise and participate in integration teams.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

Degree level in relevant discipline or equivalent qualification: ACA, CA and/or CFA desirable.   

2-4 years’ relevant M&A experience       

Relevant experience in M&A, Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or closely related financial experience.

Detailed financial modelling and valuation skills, but with an ability to present complex financial information in a concise, clear and easy to understand manner.

Exposure to key legal provisions / issues and mechanisms in sale & purchase agreements and equivalent deal documents.
