Our experts manage, fulfil and move almost 200m units a year across the globe. We now require a Qualified Financial Accountant to join our team. This purpose of this role is to support the financial controller on the day to day activities within the finance function, working closely with the FC to develop better ways of working through system and process improvements to reduce the month end close and develop rigorous processes to ensure tight controls are in place for both the balance sheet and P&L The post holder will be expected to work on their own initiative, handling sensitive and confidential issues with diplomacy and minimal guidance. We require a Qualified accountant (preferably ICAEW or ACCA)
• Actively oversee and prepare robust monthly management accounts, improving the month end close process and developing the team to prepare much of the groundwork for month end
• Calculate quarterly VAT returns and capital adjustments for VAT
• Ensure the accurate and complete calculation and pay for the weekly and monthly payroll, submit P35/P14s and P11ds to HMRC as well as any other statutory forms and reporting
• Ensure tax reporting is kept up to date and payments made by all the required deadlines
• Balance Sheet reconciliations - ensure properly prepared and reviewed each month
• Ensure that Company returns are filed for all companies at Companies House within deadline
• Evaluate and maintain financial procedures, recommend improvements and implement solutions as required, ensuring authority levels are kept up to date
• Ensure accruals and prepayments are complete and properly calculated
• Maintain accounting fixed asset list and calculate depreciation
• Liaise with accountants and auditors during audit process
• Oversee the regular maintenance of the filing system
• Ensure the upkeep and integrity of employee benefits and schemes such as pensions, childcare vouchers, eye tests etc.
• Assist and support the FC with the annual budgeting process to ensure buy in from all managers and ownership moving forward
• Perform financial analysis on an ad hoc basis as required
• Keep up to date with technical developments in UK GAAP/FRS Provide accurate regular updates to banks and other interested parties as required Skills & Experience:
• Qualified accountant (preferably ICAEW or ACCA)
• Sound experience covering the production of financial and Statutory Accounts, Budgets and Forecasts as well as experience of statutory reporting to HMRC.
