LOCATION:
Dunstable PURPOSE OF ROLE This role reports to the Financial Controller. They will be responsible for performing all general accounting activities in an accurate and timely manner. This includes bank reconciliations, general accounting (rules based), period end close, fixed assets, project tracking and cost accounting activities as required to ensure the accurate capture and reporting of financial and performance activities of the business units. REPORTING AND KEY RELATIONSHIPS Reporting directly into the Financial Controller on a day to day basis this role will be expected to contribute to the smooth running of the Finance Department. Key Contacts: Group Finance Financial Controller Management Accountant BBEU Finance Director DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure Period End close activities are performed according to agreed close schedules Create and submit journal entry for review and approval. Posting manual journals / processing automated entries (set up of recurring accrual and reversing journal entries) and filing journal backup documentation appropriately Process inter-company transactions, including inbound/outbound invoices and credits and other journals such as dividends, funding, loans and associated interest entries. Responsible for maintaining inter-company reconciliations, providing mediation of inter-company disputes and closure of these Perform monthly General Ledger reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation Perform weekly Bank reconciliations Ensure recurring accrual and reversing journal entries are correctly set up Ensure proper capitalisation (of fixed assets / projects), expensing and project closure on a timely basis Monitor and correct errors in data imported into the SAP cost centres; Prepare Financial reports (run trial balance reports etc.) and prepare regulatory reports as required (statutory / tax / other) Prepare other reports as required - e.g. Inventory reporting (monitoring obsolescence / performing inventory adjustments) Participate in process improvement reviews and undertaken root cause analysis to reduce exceptions in the process Confirm process orders Support with master data - set ups and amendments ESSENTIAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Minimum ACCA or CIMA part-qualified Minimum 2 years relevant experience Experience of working in a FMCG industry would be an advantage Experience of working with SAP system would be beneficial COMPETENCIES Knowledge of Journals / Accruals / Operational Expenses and Capital Assets / Matching Principle Knowledge of Chart of Accounts and Cost Centre Structure / GAAP Good knowledge of general accounting concepts and process Initiative and ability to work in a team Thoroughness (attention to detail) Able to identify and resolve problems Able to organise and manage work Analytical skills Good communication skills
