Media Group - Financial Accountant - £50,000 - £60,000

My Client is a privately owned Media Group currently profitable, well funded, ambitious and expanding rapidly.

This position is for a Group Financial Accountant to work in the London office. This role is high profile as the person would work alongside the Finance Director with dotted line reporting to the Chief Executive. The purpose of the role is to ensure robust and timely financial reporting as well as provide analysis of key financial metrics. Working with the Finance Director and liaising with business units to ensure reporting is both timely and to a very high standard.

Key responsibilities
Monthly group reporting, group forecasting and budgeting, annual statutory reporting, some tax, M&A support, investment appraisal and ad hoc support for finance director

  • Business Development - assisting the FD in acquisition due diligence, financial modelling and appraising new business opportunities, raising finance to fund further acquisitions and post- acquisition exercises including drawing up completion balance sheets, calculating deferred consideration payments and integration to the group.
  • Managing and developing the assistant Financial Accountant
  • Oversight of company ledgers and balance sheet which will include detailed quarterly review.
  • Taking ownership of the Company audit and providing information and analysis to our auditors and tax consultant, producing audit packs and statutory accounts with full notes and draft corporation tax computations.
  • Group reporting to our board and bank each month. Preparing the board pack (including a consolidation of multiple group companies, analysis, cash-flow, balance sheet)
  • Group forecasting & budgeting, ownership of consolidating profit forecasts each quarter.
  • Ensuring that the group is tax compliant (VAT, PAYE & Other) with ad hoc research required.
  • Various ad-hoc tasks which will include commercial analysis, improving internal controls & reporting.
  • Managing and developing the assistant Financial Accountant

Essential Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA)
  • A minimum of three years' experience either in commerce and industry as a financial accountant or in private practice working in a small to medium sized firm in a role preparing statutory accounts (and audit) of Companies plus at least one year in commerce and industry.
