Senior Divisional Controller - APAC
Management Accounting & Internal Reporting
Accounting and financial analysis functions in relation to APAC legal entities and business units; responsibility for day-to-day accounting, general ledger maintenance and the monthly financial close process in relation to APAC legal entities and business units including data maintenance and financial proofs.
Direct and coordinate all financial support functions for APAC legal entities and business units across various jurisdictions focusing on the preparation, analysis and financial control of budgets, forecasts and long-range plans. Prepare financial analysis on request to support management in making strategic decisions regarding products, operations and other ad-hoc requests.
Provide local financial analysis and support for local APAC management - including ad hoc financial analysis of business initiative and client financial arrangements. Communicate and present APAC legal entity and business unit operating results, budgets, forecasts, financial trends and cost initiatives to local Executive Committees, Boards of Directors and Corporate Finance management. Analyze costs specific to functions and products within the respective regional legal entities and business units to support corresponding business needs. Produce monthly financial Key Performance Indicators and Management Information for submission to local Executive Committees and Boards of Directors.
Prepare annual statutory financial statements for various APAC legal entities; manage external audit process to successfully complete financial statement audit of APAC entities including, prepare and review financial statements, audit engagement letters and management representation letters; monitor audit progress, responses to auditors' questions and communicate relevant issues to management; successfully resolve any issues identified during the audit. Develop of financial statements for newly established regional legal entities under local GAAP and IFRS as applicable.
Prepare and submit periodic filings to financial regulators in various APAC jurisdictions; prepare annual Capital Adequacy Assessment to determine minimum capital resource requirements for regulated Australian entity; prepare annual Liquidity Analysis, including stress testing, to determine minimum liquid resource requirements for regulated Australian entity; prepare and submit quarterly statistical filings to various government agencies.
Implement an internal control framework to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, IFRS and other statutory requirements.
Management & Operational
Manage direct reports and a matrix of shared analysts and senior level individual contributors located in various geographical locations; direct supervision of accounting staff in based Japan and Australia; indirect supervision of staff in other locations based on work related to APAC entities.
Contribute to the professional development of directly managed staff; set goals and objectives and communicate regularly with staff about performance. Ensure appropriate training and development of directly managed staff including updates on current on issues affecting the industry. Provide coaching and share decisions regarding employment, compensation and performance ratings.
Local oversight of Institutional Billing and Accounts Receivable functions and act as a liaison with the Institutional billing team in relation to the calculation and issuance of management fee and performance based fee invoices.
Regional point of contact for Accounts Payable and Treasury functions including vendor liaison and reconciliation of various bank accounts held in multiple currencies.
Preparation of periodic GST/VAT returns for multiple APAC jurisdictions. Provision of assistance to the Corporate Tax team in relation to the preparation of annual Corporate Income Tax returns for multiple APAC jurisdictions; periodic review of transfer pricing calculations and preparation of corresponding invoices in support thereof.
