Working as part of a central support team, the successful applicant will provide management information to a range of Colleges and Professional Services. You will be responsible for leading a sub- team in the preparation and consolidation of monthly accounts and communication of that information to the business partnering team. The post holder has responsibility for ensuring that the data provided by their team is accurate, timely and consistent and that reports provided are clear and easily understood. The post holder will work closely with the business partnering teams to fully understand the business and to ensure the integrity of data so that the information provided can be used by budget holders to manage their budgets effectively and help them make financial decisions.
In addition to responsibilities to the Colleges/Professional Services, the post holder will be responsible for providing consistent and accurate data to the institution to ensure the effective use of resources.
Key duties will include:
Under the direction of the Head of Management Accounting, responsibility for ensuring the income and expenditure for the budget area is reported accurately and consistently against the budget set and to agreed accounting principles.
Oversight and sign off of journals, accruals and prepayments and other monthly processes that are completed by his/her team.
Preparation of variance statements and commentaries of variances against targets.
Discussing and reviewing outputs and reports with the Head of Management Accounting and Business Partners.
Delivering improvements to the monitoring of financial performance indicators to ensure targets are set.
In support of the business partner, key role in preparing budgetary information across a range of budget centres in line with assumptions agreed.
Support for the preparation of updated Forecasts at key points in the year to help determine a more accurate year end position.
Leading a team and co-ordinating the production and review of monthly management accounts for the Colleges or Professional Services under his/her control.
Reviewing the financial position of the Colleges or Professional Services under his/her control, interpreting and analysing information and communicating these in a clear way to the Head of Management Accounting or business partnering team.
Responsibility for driving change in relation to finance administrative support structures; evaluating existing procedures and processes in association with other finance office staff to drive consistency, simplification and efficiency.
The ability to develop and propose solutions to problems for review by the Head of Management Accounting and Business Partners.
