Your new role

I am working with an award winning Carmarthen-based business and am looking to recruit a high calibre Finance Manager. Based at their state of the art manufacturing facility. You will be reporting to the Financial Controller and managing 4 direct reports - and will take on the day to day responsibility for the finance function - ideally looking for a qualified person with some experience in a similar broad role even if in a smaller environment.

Manufacturing experience desirable but definitely not essential. You will need to be hands on, be prepared to get stuck in and be up for a challenge - it is a very busy department with weekly accounts produced for 4 different business units. This is a great challenging role, number two to a very experienced Financial Controller who you will be mentored by plus deputise for. Though some guidance and support is available you will have to use your initiative from the start. The manufacturing industry is fast paced with some strong characters too - so no shrinking violets!

The brief for the role is - to manage the site's Finance Function, maintain accurate and appropriate accounting records, provide robust financial controls which in turn will protect the assets of the business. Broad and varied duties in this busy role include:

  • To manage the Finance Function, ensuring that the department is directed, focused and manned to the appropriate level to deliver a comprehensive and professional service to all stakeholders.

  • To provide quality financial management information that is timely, accurate, relevant and cost effective.

  • To ensure that the site transacts it's business with appropriate financial checks, balances and controls.

  • To ensure that the sites keep proper accounting records, in line with the appropriate regulatory framework and that they are fully compliant with HMRC regulations.

  • Ensure that the teams produce, weekly and monthly accounts and information in line with internal deadlines and that they are communicated out to the appropriate parties.

  • To ensure that the teams produce timely and accurate information and data.

  • To advise on and assist in implementing systems controls in whatever areas are deemed necessary to the business.

  • To prepare budgets, re-forecasts and keep the senior management, operations and finance teams up to date on all site financial affairs, flagging risks and opportunities appropriately.

  • To oversee the accounts accruals, prepayments and back up schedules and sign off the sites' month end balance sheet reconciliations.

  • In addition to provide management reports and information including but not limited to labour costs and transport analysis; to oversee the financial components of any capital expenditure request or project and advise parties appropriately throughout ensuring post completion analysis is provided; to have full visibility of the cash picture and manage debtors and orders on credit, ensuring full credit control of suppliers and customers.
Plus to produce long-terms plans, budgets, forecasts and other financial analysis as required; to ensure that the sites produce Preliminary, Final Audited and Interim results in line with UK best practice and in line with board approved timetables and to ensure that the Finance Function complies with recommendations from the internal and external auditors.

    What you'll need to succeed

To be an experienced qualified accountant who relishes a busy role and challenging fast-paced environment. Someone with good staff management ability as well as strong technical accounting skills. Ideally a qualified accountant from a manufacturing background - but open to flex this for a suitably experienced candidate.

    What you'll get in return

A challenging exciting role with a high calibre successful business - a competitive salary and good long term career prospects.
