Our client - a well known Utilities business based in Ayrshire - are looking for an interim Financial Controller. This is a temporary role to begin with, however could go permanent

A well known and rapidly growing Utilities business

Description

Reporting into the Group Financial Director, this role is responsible for managing all financial and accounting operations within the site. This includes coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and preparing and publishing monthly financial statements. The succesful candidate will undertake all aspects of financial management including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

Other tasks will include:

- Managing a small team

- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances

- Cash flow and cash management

- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements

- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting

- Support month-end and year-end close process

- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

- Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation

- Ad hoc tasks

Profile

The successful candidate will:

- Be fully qualified

- Have excellent systems knowledge and in particular be a competent user of SAGE & SAGE payroll

- Have thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

- Have experience with creating financial statements

- Have experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
