Hays Accountancy & Finance are being retained to recruit for an well-established engineering/manufacturing organisation for an experienced and hands-on Cost Accountant (full-time or part-time). Reporting into the Group Finance Controller, this is a very hands-on and varied finance role based in their Gloucester head-office. A great opportunity to really add commercial value to an organisation, managing controlling costs to maximise efficiency and capabilities for the Group.
Your new role
Reporting into the Group Financial Controller you will analyse data to determine costs of business activity including raw material purchases, labour and overheads. You will compare actual manufacturing costs with standard costs, implement processes and accountability to improve manufacturing costs along with providing management reports and analysis based on profitability of the company's products. Along with this you will work closely with the wider business including supply chain managers to generate cost reduction, develop cost accounting systems and improve financial processes. You will assist in management accounts duties, month-end procedures and general ledger, supporting the Group Financial Controller in ad-hoc projects.
What you'll need to succeed
For this hands-on and varied Cost Accountant role you must have experience within a similar position, with knowledge of standard costing, costing processes and analysis. This role is open to part-qualified/qualified ACCA/CIMA candidates or professionals who are qualified by experience. You will need strong Excel skills and be trained in a range of finance packages. Strong communication skills are essential to build relationships and explain technical accounting procedures to non-finance team members. It would be advantageous if you have Microsoft Navision experience. This permanent costing accountant position is full-time or part-time dependable on your needs.
