Key Purpose of the Role

Robert half are recruiting a unique opportunity in Bath for a management accountant, the post holder will ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial information. Liaise with Budget Holders, forming strong relationships and aiding their financial decision-making. To apply for this role, candidates must be degree educated and be Part -Qualified ACCA/ CIMA. The successful candidate will have recent experience in producing a full set of management accounts as well as exposure to budgeting & forecasting. Once on board, you will be fully supported in your studies and encouraged to qualify in ACCA/ CIMA.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, annual budgets and contribute to sections of the three-year financial plan
  • Interpret and communicate financial information to Budget Holders and non-financial managers
  • Advise and liaise with Directors and Managers to put their results into context and grow their areas' profitable contribution
  • Work in partnership with Managers and assist them with their decision-making to effectively control their expenditure
  • Monitor and evaluate financial systems and procedures, recommending improvements to improve efficiency where appropriate

Specific Duties

  • Ensure a robust control environment exists for management of the monthly invoicing process, ensuring the integrity of accounting records and financial information
  • Be a key supporting figure for budget holders, providing insight of the key drivers to budget
  • Production and analysis of weekly / monthly KPI reports to identify anomalies and issues, and provide recommendations to improve profitability
  • Creation of new reporting suites
  • Investigation of current ways of working, writing executive summaries to inform key stakeholders, and with suggestions of ways to improve / streamline processes
  • Assist in Identification of business trends and provide solutions to improve positions
  • Assist in budgeting and reforecast work
  • Act as Business partner to provide financial support to the managers and their teams
  • Analysis for budget holders, highlighting issues and recommending remedial action

Experience and Skills

  • Working in partnership with Managers and Budget Holders, assisting them in their delivery of controlled income growth and value for money, in a rapidly changing and challenging environment
  • Working with auditors and professional advisers
  • Presenting complex data clearly and concisely to non-financial managers
  • Proven success in delivering systems improvements, efficiencies and improving value for money
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Proven experience of building effective working relationships with Non-Financial Teams across all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Excel advanced (skilled in pivot tables and charts), Word intermediate (creating tables and professional formatting of reports) and Outlook, intermediate
  • Experience of large scale accounting packages
  • Ability to manage a substantial workload and prioritise effectively
