About this role: 

Internal Audit performs independent and objective reviews, as well as consulting services designed to assess and improve internal controls and operations within the region. As part of the global audit function within the Firm, we engage in risk-oriented audits of the firm's two pillars of businesses, regarding their compliance with legal, regulatory and internal requirements. Furthermore, with our in depth knowledge of local processes, as well as international best practice, we support management in creating and ensuring a reliable and sound internal control system.

The team is responsible for performing process oriented audits, placing a focus on key business and Information Technology (IT) risks, and on the effectiveness of internal controls. This includes the review and analysis of procedures throughout the Asia Pacific region to ensure that risks are appropriately identified and managed, significant financial/ managerial/ operating information is accurate and Group standards, policies, applicable laws and regulations are complied with. The team provides Management with audit results and recommendations at the conclusion of reviews.

In this role, the ideal candidate will: 

  • Support the Region Heads on various global projects - audit and non-audit related.
  • Build and maintain a relationship as key IT audit partner with IT area management to effectively provide audit support and internal control advises.
  • Identify emerging risks (both business and IT), new products and/or new businesses for inclusion in the annual internal audit plan for the AP region
  • Manage all aspects of an IT audit: planning, fieldwork, report writing and presentation of results to audit management and senior business management in accordance with the Firm's audit standards and key performance indicators This includes the timely preparation of meaningful meeting notes and appropriate audit documentation in English.
  • Formulate clear and concise audit findings, reflecting deficiencies identified during audit field work, related risk impact and suggestions on practical recommendations to mitigate risk.
  • Supporting a constructive work environment and an open level of communication within the audit team and showing co-operative behaviour towards all team members; providing support and guidance for new team members.
  • In cooperation with the Region Head of Internal Audit, develop annual audit plan for the AP region
  • Perform follow-up activities to evaluate the sufficiency and timeliness of management responses and corrective action taken in response to audit recommendations.
  • 40% travel mainly in the Asia Pacific region, with 1 or 2 assignments in the US or Europe.
  • Ensuring the independence of Internal Audit and confidentiality of information received.
  • Manage team, resolve complex problems, and ease workloads during periods of peak volume.
  • Identifying and actively communicating topics where Internal Audit needs to perform further research with respect to security and efficiency aspects as well as the risk situation of the Firm's Asia Pacific business processes.

The ideal candidate will possess the following: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related degree - possibly an existing IT auditor/manager looking to move into business audit regime
  • 6+ years of experience in internal auditing, including integrated audits, within financial services or for a public accounting firm (candidates with relatively less experience will be considered for Senior IT Auditor)
  • CISA required; CPA/CIA preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of financial industry products and services, securities processing and information systems
  • Understanding of IT and its impact on the business
  • Broad understanding of operations, security, technology and its applications
  • Be computer literate with experience in using MS Office
  • Job holder should be fluent in English and Mandarin, reading and writing in Chinese 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to challenge. Demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with all levels of management and staff.
