The CPB Capital Markets Risk Manager ("CMRM") works in parallel with the Citi Private Bank (CPB) Investments, Bankers, Investment Finance (IF) Origination and Product Specialists, and Investments Product Risk (IPR) Working in conjunction with these partners the CMRM is able to make informed risk decisions through an in-depth understanding of the product structure and interplay of market and credit risk and its impact on the client relationship.

Key Responsibilities:
  • As an independent risk officer with a delegated approval limit, review and approve credit facilities and/or make approval recommendations to more senior risk officers
  • Work in conjunction with the Regional Capital Markets Risk Head on associated program renewals and attendant policy/program matters, insuring a robust risk framework exists for the analysis, approval, and monitoring of capital markets transactions paying special attention to the Markets Direct Access initiative
  • Review market risks, pay-offs, product and platform appropriateness
  • Manage impact of credit and market risks on Investment Finance and capital markets transactions, escalating risk views in a timely manner
  • Facilitate product risk decisions by participating in client meetings and suitability/appropriateness analysis for clients that employ complex derivatives transactions
  • Facilitate and actively participate in ongoing portfolio reviews of capital market transactions
  • Identify and execute risk mitigation opportunities, and establish key controls
  • Work with the Special Assets and Restructuring Group (SARG) on remedial management actions when needed
  • Provide Market Risk inputs and assist in the structuring of credit transactions as required by partners in the product groups and geographies
  • Assess risk/return trade-offs associated with transactions, products and client relationships
  • Apply quantitative risk management techniques to supplement¬† portfolio risk management
Specific Risk Experience:
  • Technical knowledge and experience in FX, complex derivatives and structured products Knowledge of alternative investments would be an advantage
  • Sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues and their impact from a risk management perspective
  • Proficient in stress testing and developing associated mitigation strategies
  • Knowledge of asset classes such as Equities and Fixed Income etc.
  • Preferably exposure to developing and/or applying quantitative techniques in portfolio risk management
  • Preferably a Senior Credit Officer (SCO) or an individual that has the capability and aspiration to achieve the SCO credential within a reasonable period of time
