Assistant Management Accountant
This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a part qualified accountant to undertake a high profile, career focused position within an established, award winning South East Wales Manufacturing Group. The successful individual will work closely with the current Head of Finance over the next 3 to 5 years to develop the skills and confidence to be able to run the department and become a vital part of the Leadership team.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, HR & IT you will be involved in all aspects of Financial and Management accounts and reporting, both internally and externally. This is a "hands on" role and as such you will be expected to get involved in all areas and functions of the business. Experience of working within a group environment would be helpful as well as UK and International GAAP reporting. There will be some European travel to Group Head Office and other manufacturing sites when required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Detailed involvement in all aspects of financial, cost accounting and variance analysis
- Reporting weekly and monthly to local management, Group and externally
- Financial accounting including: bank reconciliation, journals, trial balance and statutory accounts preparation
- Variance analysis of factory costs and general overheads with monthly control meetings
- Annual and monthly budgeting and forecasting
- Cash management and cash flow analysis
- Summarising and presenting financial data to the all levels of the workforce
- Liaising with external partners including auditors and banks
- Supporting all functions and departments as and when required
- Ad hoc duties
The ideal candidate will be part-qualified CIMA, demonstrate a strong track record of exam success, together with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a commercially focused finance role., You should have strong IT skills including intermediate to advanced Excel as well as detailed understanding of ERP systems. Prospective candidates should also have a keen interest and knowledge of IT hardware, software and infrastructures.
A strong work ethic with a can-do attitude and long term commitment to the company and local area is essential. A positive and flexible attitude and the ability to work effectively on your own or as part of a team is also necessary. A manufacturing background would be beneficial but is not essential.
A competitive salary of c£30,000 plus a fully funded study package is available. Salary increases will be available in line with future exam successes. Additional training is available together with extensive internal support from the Management team.
