KPMGââ,¬â¢s Internal Tax Team forms part of the firmââ,¬â¢s in-house Finance function within the UK. The team, which totals approximately 25 individuals, is responsible for all aspects of the UK firmââ,¬â¢s internal tax affairs, covering corporate tax, VAT, employment tax and the personal tax affairs of the partners. The Role Summary of Role Purpose: The individual will have primary responsibility for all aspects of VAT reporting for the KPMG UK group. The role is complex and challenging requiring an ability to mix compliance reviews with high profile and varied internal VAT advisory. Description of the role: ââ,¬¢ Reviewing and overseeing the completion and submission of approximately 40 compliance returns per year for the UK VAT group and other UK entities, including quarterly VAT returns, EC Sales listings for services and goods, Intrastat trade statistical reports, and MOSS returns. ââ,¬¢ Providing the business with timely VAT advice and guidance via a dedicated internal VAT Helpline ââ,¬" both orally and written ââ,¬¢ Working with overseas tax advisors to obtain advice and ensure the accurate and timely filing of overseas indirect tax returns ââ,¬¢ Managing and updating (where applicable) the annual partial exemption and Capital Goods Scheme review and input tax adjustments in line with the method agreed with HMRC. ââ,¬¢ Working with internal teams such as legal, procurement, finance to ensure that KPMG UKââ,¬â¢s systems, processes, procedures and reporting remain compliant with existing VAT rules. ââ,¬¢ Keeping up to date on relevant VAT tribunal decisions and assessing impact to the business and training. Role dimensions Leadership & Management: ââ,¬¢ Working as a close team with other senior members within KPMGââ,¬â¢s Internal Tax team to provide consistent advice and reporting across all taxes. ââ,¬¢ The management and supervision of two direct reports. Stakeholder Interaction & challenges: ââ,¬¢ Working with senior internal stakeholders to provide VAT advice on disposals, acquisitions and the on-boarding of large supplier contracts as well as large overseas engagements. ââ,¬¢ Acting as the indirect tax lead on all HMRC VAT related matters, which includes establishing and maintaining a good working and transparent relationship with HMRC specialists. The Person Experience Essential Significant yearsââ,¬â¢ experience in VAT, either in professional practice, HMRC or a service industry in-house role. Expertise / Technical role requirements CTA or ACA qualification or equivalent Skills ââ,¬¢ Highly numerate ââ,¬¢ A robust understanding of VAT reporting and extracting information from ERP systems ââ,¬¢ Strong oral and written communication skills. ââ,¬¢ Excellent team working skills, including delegation, managing teams and developing junior staff. ââ,¬¢ Excellent organisational skills are required.
