Financial Controller Network Rail Consulting is an international rail consultancy, offering outstanding expertise in getting more out of legacy infrastructure, operating in a closely monitored market and continuously upgrading an active, heavily-used rail system. Within our head office in Waterloo Station, we are looking for an Financial Controller to manage the provision of comprehensive and quality financial support with respect to project accounting, management reporting, internal control, financial accounting, business planning and independent challenge and appraisal of proposed business decisions. As a key member of the senior management team you will be focused on achieving Network Rail Consulting's finance and business strategy. Key Accountabilities 1. Support the business in achieving its objectives and financial targets. 2. Lead the finance team to identify resource requirements and recruit as required. 3. Manage and co-ordinate the production and submission of the relevant management information. 4. Manage the Corporate Governance process for the function, maintaining compliance with relevant technical accounting standards. 5. Maintain technical standards of accounting in the Consolidation of the NRC Group results accordance with statutory, regulatory, IFRS, HMRC and Group Policy & Regulations. 6. Where required, maintain procedures and systems of internal control to protect safe stewardship and custody of assets and maintain the integrity of the associated financial records. 7. Proactively challenge the management of financial and business risk and opportunities. 8. Conduct financial reviews of departmental and regional performance. 9. Manage the business planning process in delivering business objectives, including development of action plans, monitoring of progress and identification of corrective action. 10. Manage the recovery of income for third party projects. 11. Appraise all investment proposals and provide analytical information to assist in making investment decisions. Essential
• Full membership of relevant professional body
• Five years' post qualification experience
• Experience within at least 2 different finance disciplines within Network Rail and/or external organisations Desirable
• Experience of working as group financial controller for international professional services group
• Strong technical background in tax, treasury and financial accounting
• Broad experience of ERP processes and change
• Highly numerate and proficient in excel and modelling
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Strong commercial acumen
• Strong written and communications skills
• Experience of leading a team
• Comfortable with interfacing with multiple stakeholders
• Willingness to travel
• Experience in project accounting and commercial responsibility for major projects and/or contracts.
