Job Details

The R&D Tax Manager will focus on the successful delivery of claims for existing and future R&D Tax Credit clients engagements. The role will also involve providing support to our staff of tax professionals and to the Sales team in client presentations, meetings and proposals; demonstrating the credibility of the team and assisting with the identification and resolution of any technical tax issues.

Based in Stoke, this is an accountancy practice that are rapidly growing. The aim is to ensure that clients are claiming this valuable tax relief. Due to the company's rapid success, an exciting opportunity has opened to join the team as an R&D Tax Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meeting with clients and prospects at all stages of the sales and delivery process. Maintaining excellent working relationships, supporting sales and claims personnel.

  • Working closely with the client to collect financial data, and quantify all eligible costs, to assess whether their activities can be included in an R&D claim.

  • Processing client financial data to produce and review accurate and timely reports and analyses.

  • Preparing the technical report describing the R&D activities in terms of R&D Tax relief, in support of claims made or under discussion.

  • Working with and supporting Claims Administrators, who are an important part of our client proposition.

  • Negotiating with HMRC to obtain agreement that the activities constitute R&D Tax Relief.

  • Answering ad hoc queries from the team, clients and prospective clients relating to R&D tax and/or corporate tax.

  • The R&D Tax Manager will be expected to maintain an expert knowledge of the working, detail and implementation of R&D Tax Relief legislation, guidelines and HMRC practice.

  • The R&D Tax Manager will be expected to maintain a portfolio of client cases.

  • Supporting the Technical Director with management of the Claims team including reporting, training and process improvements.

  • Supporting the marketing efforts of the business, including writing articles, giving interviews, presenting at events, updating the web site and involvement with social media.

  • Supporting the business with new revenue generation opportunities, recruitment and financial forecasting.

  • Supervision of Claims Administrative staff and mentoring of team members when required.

Profile

Required Qualification

  • CIMA, ACA, ATT, ACCA or CTA






Required Skills

  • The successful candidate will have an excellent working knowledge of the UK corporate tax regime and how different aspects of tax and accounting treatments may interact with an R&D Tax claim.

  • Ability to explain/describe the activities of a company to HMRC in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to manage and develop a small hard working team.

  • Ability to relate to work with, and win the confidence of, clients.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend client meetings so therefore have a current driving license, own a car and be comfortable to drive long distances, where required. Some overnight away from home may be required.

Job Offer

Salary: £40,000-£50,000 dependent on qualifications and experience plus benefits

Term: Full Time, Permanent (Part Time Considered)
