Carbon Tracker Initiative is a non-profit think tank with offices near London Bridge. Our objective is to campaign for, promote and achieve an understanding of the financial and environmental risks associated with carbon. Our goal is a climate-secure global energy market, where capital markets are aligned with the reality of climate change. The production and dissemination of our research seeks to rebalance the perceived exposure of the energy sector to climate-related financial risk, examining the implications of the wind-down of the fossil fuel sector in line with a transition to 2°C. We are currently a team of 25 people in the UK, and 3 in the USA. The organisation is in an interesting stage of development, transitioning from a very small operation to a more established and larger group. In order to support our continuing growth, we are looking for a Financial Controller to bolster our financial management capabilities. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Controller is a key position responsible for the maintenance of all finance, accounting and reporting activities across the Carbon Tracker group. Principal activities include: Being responsible for all programme and grants management, including monitoring budgets throughout the grant/funding period and preparing financials for grant proposals, renewals and annual funding requests. Leading on budgeting, forecasting and month end reporting, including commentary for and presentation to senior management; Leading the preparation of annual report and accounts in compliance with relevant accounting standards; Communicating complex financial information and influencing and building rapport with a range of internal and external stakeholders; The successful candidate will be fully qualified and to come from an audit, charity or commercial background. We are looking for a friendly and open individual, with excellent organisational and communication skills. Suitable candidates will have exceptional attention to detail but will also be capable of stepping back and assessing the bigger picture. This would be a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified professional looking to make the first move out of practice. 2020 will be an exciting year for the climate movement in the UK, as the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP26) is coming to Glasgow. We are currently planning our activities for the year ahead and we hope to find a Financial Controller keen to support the team and thereby contribute to the organisation's success. Recruitment timings: Closing date: Sunday, 17th November Shortlist: w/c Monday, 25th November Interviews: w/c Monday, 2nd December To apply, please send your CV and covering letter via the link by Sunday 17th November. For an informal discussion regarding the roles, please don't hesitate to contact Bryony Feeney at Allen Lane via the agency website. At Carbon Tracker Initiative we are committed to building and nurturing a strong culture of diversity and inclusion and we welcome applications from all qualified applicants, regardless of age, disability, gender identity or gender expression, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or any other equality characteristic.
