Our Client is a leading edge research and development Company who are currently seeking a Group Financial Controller to join the team, ideally based in Cardiff, or willing to commute to and work in Cardiff at least two days a week. Role Purpose Accountable for the integrity and reporting of management and financial accounts, tax compliance, financial control and office management. Key Accountabilities Responsible for the overall day-to-day listed accounting function including transaction processing, payroll, reporting and financial control. Management and mentoring of accounting staff in Cardiff and Europe (dotted line). Timely production and integrity of management and financial accounts (including Annual Report, Interim Statement and for a dual-listed Group. Management of audit and liaison with auditors, valuation specialists and others, as necessary. Design, documentation, implementation and execution of financial policies, procedures and controls. Tax compliance (including VAT returns), transfer pricing, R&D tax credits oversight and management of relationships with HMRC. Preparation of Budgets, forecasts and re-forecasts from time to time. Supporting CFO with Board papers, investor materials, transactions, M&A and funding activities. General management and mentoring of staff in Cardiff office and reports overseas. Qualifications and Experience Qualified Accountant (Big four) Five years' post-qualified experience in industry Worked for a multi-national with foreign currency and consolidations Listed reporting Management of a team Based in Cardiff area or willing to travel to Cardiff 2 days / week minimum Tax compliance (Foreign Private Issuer) reporting experience Project accounting Systems knowledge Capabilities and Personal Attributes Professional demeanour, able to communicate effectively internally and externally (advisers / contractors) Takes personal ownership and plans/leads activities to completion Able to prioritise multiple activities across tasks, and plan internal/ external resources effectively to meet objectives Credible, able to build relationships and influence others Pragmatic and flexible, able to identify appropriate solutions Energetic and positive Organised, efficient and able to cope with significant workload Good attention to detail Intellectually rigorous Highly developed sense of urgency Strong team ethic, Company-minded, adaptable, flexible Exhibits sound judgment, is insightful and objective Self-starter and self-sufficient
