Description When it comes to innovation and achievement there are few organisations with a better track record. Join us and you'll be able to play a big part in the success of our highly successful, fast-paced business that opens up Europe so people can exercise their get-up-and-go. With over 300 aircraft flying over 950 routes to more than 30 countries, we're the UK's largest airline, the second largest in Europe and the tenth largest in the world. Flying over 90 million passengers a year, we employ over 15,000 people. Its big-scale stuff and we're still growing. We are looking for an experienced employment tax specialist to join our Group Tax team based at Luton Airport. We work in an exciting and fast-paced sector, and this position will give the right candidate the opportunity to broaden their employment tax experience by supporting the Group across Europe, and to develop their industry knowledge. The Employment Tax Adviser will report to the Employment Tax Manager, who reports in to the Head of Tax. The ideal candidate will have a sound foundation in UK employment tax matters, and be able to work confidently with a range of stakeholders to advise the business accordingly. They should have a critical eye, and be driven to develop and embed processes and procedures which manage our employment tax risk in a practical and commercial manner. Exposure to international employment tax matters is ideal but not required, as this Group-wide role will require the right candidate to work with our external advisers to understand and interpret international tax rules quickly, to manage compliance across the Group. On joining easyJet, the key initial responsibility will be to lead for Group Tax on our IR35 project, to ensure that we are able to deliver on our existing project plan by April 2020. Understanding of the practical application of the IR35 rules in a business context will be an important requirement for this role. Project management of the IR35 off-payroll worker project will include tasks such as: ensuring business stakeholders are fully briefed on the impact of the new rules; working with external advisers and business stakeholders to design and implement the systems and processes required to fully manage our IR35 risk; completing employment status assessments for any impacted workers; and engaging with them and their respective line managers to explain how the rules will impact their position. Beyond April 2020, as IR35 becomes an embedded BAU requirement, the Employment Tax Adviser will widen their focus to assist with other Employment Tax Matters across the Group, both in the UK and internationally. UK compliance tasks will include working with payroll to ensure timely and accurate P11D(b) submissions, preparing our PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA), and preparing our Short Term Business Visitor reports. However, UK compliance tasks form a relatively small part of this role, with ad-hoc advisory support to the business being the primary focus. The Employment Tax Adviser will need to work effectively and cooperatively with all areas of the business across Europe, but primarily HR, Payroll, Reward and Legal. Across the Group, the Employment Tax Adviser will need to work with external advisers to understand and interpret international tax technical advice, and be able to work with the business to establish systems and processes to enable practical implementation. Examples of recent projects and advisory work include: partnering with Reward team colleagues to support the implementation of a flexible benefits system in one of our EU locations and advising payroll on the tax and social security treatment of the new pay elements to be created; working with external advisers to ensure our international tax guides in respect of employee share plans are up-to-date and advising the business where changes could be made to improve tax efficiencies; reviewing the compliance requirements associated with the provision of particular staff benefits and ensuring reporting processes are fit for purpose. The Employment Tax Adviser will also play a key role within the wider tax team in maintaining and developing our established working relationship with HMRC and other local tax authorities outside the UK.
