We are looking for an accountant to join our team who will be driven and happy to take on new challenges that the profession brings. Good problem-solving skills are essential in this varied role. As a member of the accounts team you will be involved in a wide variety of accounting services including the preparation of statutory accounts, corporation tax computations, management accounts, VAT returns and undertaking bookkeeping using accounting software such as Xero and Sage. The role will also involve assisting the tax team, liaising with managers and clients and prioritising workload to ensure that client deadlines and needs are met. A flexible working approach is required and a willingness to assist with any accounting assignments necessary to meet client's expectations and maintain client service levels. Duties and responsibilities Bookkeeping and preparation of monthly or quarterly VAT returns, including submission to HMRC; Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts both in the office and at client's premises; Preparation of statutory accounts from analysis of client records to producing final accounts on Iris accounts production; Preparation of corporation tax computations; External audit assignments from planning stage through to audit fieldwork and completion ready for manager review; Liaising with various parts of the business, investigating and resolving queries; Finalising of accounts and drafting of letters to send out to clients; Contact clients to ensure that accounting records are received on time; Handling customer queries; Management of work flow; Improve processes and assist in problem solving. Person specification Essential Ability to work under pressure and have a flexible approach to working; ACA or ACCA Qualified / part Qualified; Experience in a similar role; Self-starter; Experience communicating directly with clients; Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines; Good organisation skills; A strong team player who can build relationships; Shows drive & commitment to improving knowledge & expertise; A good knowledge of Excel; Can-do attitude. Desirable Experience of working in general practice; Experience using Xero; Audit experience; Experience of using Iris accounts package. Academic requirements ACA or ACCA Qualified / part Qualified; Ideally 2 year's experience in a similar role producing accounts to review stage, bookkeeping and payroll; Excellent IT skills and a confident user of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel is essential). Salary is dependent on experience.
