£18-£20 LTD Contract: 3 months The Badenoch Clark HR Team are proud to be working in partnership with an established Council based in Stevenage to appoint their Payroll Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join their thriving Exchequer Services Team and support the delivery of all aspects of payroll and purchase ledgers. The Role: In this role you will work report to the Assistant Director of Finance and collaboratively work with Exchequer Manager to ensure that management and staff are advised on queries relating to payroll functions and purchase ledgers. The Role: To provide timely & accurate payments to all employees and ensure they are paid in accordance with the Councils pay policy terms and conditions of service and financial regulations and statutory regulations Key responsibility for the integrity of the payroll system and responsible for liaising with HR in terms of data imported from HR systems modules Manage the implementation, design, upgrade and development and use of the payroll system To support the purchase ledger function as and when required Provide the relevant training to staff in payroll related matters across the business The Person: Knowledge of Local Government policies and procedures. Local Government Pension Scheme, HMRC legislation and guidance, Construction Industry Taxation Scheme P.A.Y.E. and VAT legislation Experience of completing monthly payroll including statutory returns Proven experience of line managing a team and supervising Ability to collaboratively with HR/Internal teams across the business A detail understanding of Data Protection Act and ensuring it is applied with all transactions Able to professionally maintain key relationships with stakeholders, agencies and other external organisations Experience in computerised payroll systems This is an opportunity for a experienced payroll specialist.
