Core Finance provides the heartbeat of financial record preparation through the processing of the financial transactions, application of accounting regulations and preparation of month end reports. We work with the finance business partners to ensure that the records are an accurate reflection of the performance of the organisation and provide the first line controls of analytical review and explanation of business variances. Leading a team of 20 qualified and part qualified accountants and reporting directly into the Finance Director, you will be accountable for the delivery of the month and year end results within the agreed timeframes, interface with external auditors and advisors, and become a Subject Matter Expert on Finance Initiatives interpreting and implementing current and future accounting requirements. Interfacing with the Group Accounting and Finance Business Partnering functions, you will be instrumental in the implementation a culture of continuous improvement across Core Finance, leading and developing a team to automate and streamline working practices and building strong relationships to become a Centre of Excellence.The key responsibilities for the role are:Work with the Core Finance team and stakeholders to develop a vision for success for the Core Finance team, in which team members are proud, have a clear purpose and feel valued. Provide financial leadership in the production on month end and year end results and act as point of contact with the external auditors Focus on external and internal stakeholder management, establishing new and maintaining existing relationships, to ensure excellence of delivery of services to the business Lead for large or technically complex assignments and implementation of audit recommendations, working closely with Group Accounting and Internal Audit functions on risk management, technical and other areas. Point of contact for finance excellence regarding IFRS, including IFRS15 and IFRS16 Lead role in the monthly review and management of the company's balance sheets Accountable for creation of quality assured monthly board packs and ad hoc financial analysis and to evaluate commercial opportunities, to assist the relevant Finance teams. Develop, maintain and monitor a monthly dashboard covering key performance metrics / agreed deliverables to manage performance. Development of efficient and documented standardised processes and timetables within an effective controls framework aligned with Group policies. Identify and implement efficiencies in transactional processes and assist with new project/system implementations.
