Summary of Role

Provide comprehensive financial planning, reporting, analysis, and decision support to the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (Association) leadership team as well as revenue and cost center teams within the Association.  To partner with the leadership team across the UK, Ireland and Europe in driving performance across the Europe markets.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality financial planning & analysis and business partnering service to all Europe departments
  • Analyse, develop and maintain business operations, processes and indicators to determine drivers that affect performance and use this information to influence direction to achieve goals
  • Produce clear and accurate financial and statistical narrative reports on a regular  basis, monitoring and pro-actively advising on performance
  • Work with country managers, pro-actively to identify issues that impact on goal achievement
  • Develop and publish financial and non-financial metrics, calling attention to opportunities and risks.  Succinctly communicate opportunities and risks to Finance leadership and business owners.  Identify, recommend, and implement ways to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Work with country managers, HODs and Directors to assist with medium to long term planning 3-5 years, annual budgeting and periodic forecasting. Bringing together financial and non-financial data into a business plan focused on achieving The Association’s strategic goals
  • Present plans to management in a dynamic and informative manner
  • Facilitate and manage funding requirements, banking matters and general compliance of the entities in the region
  • Assess proposed projects, new products, and new pricing schemes
  • Review and sign off business case financials for suitability to the Europe market objectives and ensure financial risk is mitigated
  • Manage the preparation of files and back-up for the annual audit in Ireland. Responsible for ensuring all data given to auditors is complete and reflects final year-end figures for statutory accounts preparation. Onsite at Ireland office as lead contact throughout audit. 
  • Control the finance systems and processes to ensure accurate and timely data

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation and standardization, to shorten close, reporting and budget / forecast cycles, and to eliminate redundant or obsolete tasks and deliverables.  Identify, recommend and implement process changes.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of existing processes and recommend enhancements that lead to improvements in the quality of deliverables.
  • Cultivate business relationships across the organization to understand business owner needs and expectations, incorporating feedback to enhance processes when possible.

Management Information

  • Deliver to agreed timelines;
  • Produce reporting that answers ‘why’, is insightful, has impact, is topical, and is actionable
  • Reporting financials on gross revenue (fee income, PCG and MA Commercial), salary and non-salary expenditure down to total contribution level
  • Also responsible for non-financial KPI reporting – student and member populations, exams delivered, and lapsing of these populations
  • Provide recommendations on results and challenge where necessary

Other

  • Assist with the annual audit by preparing requested schedules and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Execute ad hoc projects/duties as assigned or self-initiated.
  • Assume leadership role within FP&A when necessary.
  • May conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, provide salary recommendations, monitor, and assign work, coach, mentor and develop employees; develop work plans and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May supervise Financial Analyst(s)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Extensive knowledge and experience:
  • in reading, interpreting and drawing accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
  • of processes, tools and techniques to explore and evaluate financial scenarios, results and alternatives
  • of processes, methods and tools to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports
  • in the application of generally accepted accounting principles
  • of methods, processes, and tools for maintaining accounting records and preparing financial statements and reports
  • working with financial and accounting software and applications
  • Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven professional with high drive and initiative and the ability to work interdependently with others
  • Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Basic Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Word skills

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Minimum 7 years of related finance or accounting experience
  • Business partnering, or demonstrable experience working closely and advising internal customer groups
  • CPA / CGMA (or equivalent)
