The role Working at our Cardiff office within the Finance & Treasury function, you will assist the Senior Management Accountant in preparing the management accounts alongside performing the payments and receipting processes on behalf of a Client as part of a small team. You will also support the Head of Energy Bureau in managing the Client's reporting expectations in terms of billing, portfolio management reporting and analytics. Typical Duties Maintain the financial books and records Perform sales and purchase invoicing Payment processing and administration Assist in the preparation of management accounts in line with the relevant accounting policies Month end prepayment and accrual calculations Preparing journals for review Preparation and assistance with supporting schedules Assist in the production of balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variance Undertake financial analysis and production of supporting financial and non-financial reports Liaising with other Group Finance functions to ensure accuracy and completeness in reporting Assist the Senior Management Accountant with the implementation of process improvements Undertaking financial administration Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and provision of assistance with the annual audit process Ensuring HMRC requirements and deadlines are met Support and deputise the Head of Energy Bureau as appropriate To comply with all SMS Plc Health, Safety and Environmental requirements Required Skills Management and financial management accounting Strong stakeholder and communication and management skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work autonomously and manage a busy and varied workload Driven with an enthusiastic attitude Organised and reliable Able to organize and prioritise work to meet deadlines and manage the expectations of stakeholders Good numerical ability with an attention to detail IT literate (Microsoft Excel / Word etc) Education and Experience Part or Fully ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified GCSE (or equivalent) English / Mathematics at grades C or above Additional 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades D or above Degree level education (non-specified) Finance/Management Accounting Self-motivator who is pro-active Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders Employment experience within the utility industry Microsoft Dynamics365 Accounting Software experience In return 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) as of 1st January 2020, standard holiday entitlement will increase to 25 personal days per year, with an additional allocation of 8 public holidays After 5 years of service you will be rewarded with an additional 5 days annual leave taking it to 30 personal days and 8 public holidays.
