Here at Halfords we're on the look out for our next Finance Business Partner. The role is one of decision support providing, analysing and interpreting management information in order to influence key commercial decisions. This role is an integral part of the Commercial Finance team, and as such sits alongside its customers on the trading floor Key Responsibilities - Financial ownership of sales, margin, supplier income, capital spend and costs - Dedicated Business Partner to Category Managers / Head of Trading with cross functional involvement with all Commercial functions, eg Supply, Business to Business and Digital in order to deliver the optimal sales and profit position - Quarterly forecasting and budgeting, highlighting opportunities and risks to the Commercial and Finance Directors to ensure strategy is in line with overall Business objectives - Daily, weekly, monthly reporting and understanding of sales and margin variances - Evaluation of promotional effectiveness, margin management and range reviews proposing appropriate management actions to keep plans on track - Evaluate trials analysis eg, extended range, stock clearance, space changes - Influencing the Commercial teams to capitalise on trading opportunities and minimise potential threats by identifying and highlighting trends, and understanding the long term impacts of commercial decisions - Participate in the 5 year plan by using insight and Commercial knowledge to drive out appropriate sales and margin outlook Key Skills/Experience - Graduate calibre - Initiative and drive with an inquisitive nature - Ability to drive insight from data - Strong communication skills (articulate, confident with strong influencing skills) - Confident in making recommendations & conclusions - Ability to work flexibly at pace - Commercial awareness - Previous Business Partnering experience, preferably in Retail, FMCG - Explaining Finance to non-Finance colleagues - Advanced Excel Skills - Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA etc.)
