Working closely with the Credit Risk Officer, the main responsibilities of the role include: Taking a lead role in the creation of Credit Risk strategy for all products, covering High-Cost Short Term Credit (HCSTC) and Near Prime instalment loans Taking a lead role in acquisition and collections & recoveries strategy Determination and ongoing management of our Responsible Lending and Affordability Policy; including performance monitoring to ensure adherence to the policy Balancing risk appetite with commercial returns to ensure optimal P&L performance Creation and performance management of a sophisticated segmented pricing model Management of internal and external audits Management of relationships with third parties where relevant (e.g. credit reference agencies) and regulatory bodies (e.g. FCA) Development of effective and insightful Credit Risk and Portfolio Management MI Strong leadership and mentoring to the rest of the Credit Risk team Guidance and direction to the Risk squad (part of the Engineering and IT team) to ensure consistent understanding of business objectives and priorities Close working relationships with other key areas of the business, including Engineering and IT, Compliance, Operations, Finance and Marketing Our ideal candidate for the role of the Head of Credit Risk will have the following attributes: Demonstrable evidence of creating and managing Credit Risk strategy in a lending capacity, with experience across a broad part of the credit spectrum being a particular benefit 5 years of working in a heavily regulated industry Extensive knowledge of FCA regulation Demonstrable evidence of being able to positively influence the performance of a lending portfolio Demonstrable evidence of creating and delivering a Credit Risk and Pricing strategy for a new product and successful deployment into the market A skilled communicator, comfortable communicating with all levels of the organisation Passionate and commercial mindset, with a strong willingness to work positively and collaboratively to deliver results Strong modelling and programming skills, ideally with significant experience of Python
