Salary:
£50,000pa - £55,000pa The company Our Client is a world-class, dedicated residential leadership development and conference centre at Churchill College, in the University of Cambridge. The Role To provide strategic financial expertise and input to the CEO/Board as part of the senior management team, advising on financial matters, such as the growth and profitability of the company in order to further advance the business and increase its covenanted contribution to Churchill College. To provide timely budget and financial information and analysis to the CEO, the senior management team and the Board of Directors for the four Board meetings held each year. To work closely with managers and their teams from across the business to enable them to improve business performance through implementation of improved reporting and processes, providing appropriate budget and actual financial data. To be accountable for the production of effective monthly management accounts, financial statements and undertaking of the annual audit process. To ensure the production of the separate monthly management accounts for the two business streams. To streamline the use of IT systems for the management of financial processes across the business. To be significantly involved, as part of the Strategy team, in the development of strategy and future planning of the business and its delivery and profitability. To drive the 5 Year Financial Plan. To review relevant contractual and legal documentation for the business, to act as Data Protection Officer for GDPR purposes and to act as Anti Bribery and Corruption Compliance Officer. To ensure the provision of appropriate budget and financial data to support the team to exceed client expectations, ensuring all aspects of the customer journey are effectively delivered in a financially efficient manner. Main responsibilities To work as a member of the Strategy team to contribute to the strategic planning for the Company including attending all meetings as required and implementing decisions as appropriate. To take overall accountability for the work and personal development of the Finance team, in conjunction with the Assistant Head of Finance, to deliver the strategic aims and business targets. This includes the direct line management of the Assistant Head of Finance and Finance Team (3 members); incorporating the completion of annual reviews and the management of personal development for effective delivery and succession planning. To support and advise the CEO on financial strategy and matters arising from executive education and venue areas of the business, including clear reporting and monitoring of performance, business model structuring and pricing strategy. To ensure that the management accounts produced enable the efficient control and monitoring of the contribution made by each part of the business: executive education and venue. To take responsibility for the production of the annual budget, 5 Year Financial Plan and capital purchase plan, including related cash flow planning. To be responsible for the financial management of capital projects and to work on capital investment project analysis as required. To produce comprehensive Board papers, attend Board meetings and present to the Board of Directors as required. To prepare proposals regarding internal bonus schemes, pension and remuneration proposals in conjunction with the CEO for the Board and Remuneration Committee of the Board. To be responsible for all external financial reporting requirements. To advise on business and pricing models for executive education and the venue and to establish the appropriate costing and control systems to drive growth and efficiency. To engage with the auditors to support the production of the financial statements and the annual audit of the business. Review and analyse cost/profit margins for specific events and programmes. To oversee the Purchase Ledger input and to agree the date for payment to suppliers. To maintain and deal with insurance issues relating to the business. Provide ad-hoc financial information and work on significant capital projects with senior managers as required. To work closely with the Assistant Head of Finance, Churchill College IT, external IT third parties and the senior management team to improve financial systems and procedures and update internal control processes. To ensure, in conjunction with the service provider, that software systems enable adequate provision for the delivery of services and the secure handling of data, in line with GDPR. Person profile Energy, ambition and a keen desire to align personal and business success to help grow the global position and impact of the Client. Education and qualifications Ideally educated to degree level Holds a ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountancy qualification Relevant experience and skills Minimum of 3 years' post qualification experience Experience in producing strategic financial plans for business Experience in producing financial and management accounts Experience with a range of finance systems across a business for financial control and performance monitoring Skills in business modelling to create financial projections for strategic use in the business Keen interest in developing and implementing business models, financial processes and systems to maximise the business' and teams performance. Energetic and dynamic individual who is keen to build strong relationships across the stakeholder group. Experience of reporting to a Board.
