Tax Assistant Manager - Due to the expansion of the firm we are looking to recruit a UK Employment Tax Assistant Manager to work within our small yet growing UK only team at Frank Hirth. The successful candidate will work as part of a relatively new team, providing support to all members of the wider tax practice, working with a portfolio of clients to provide advice on issues including employment tax compliance obligations, RTI, auto enrolment, salary sacrifice, PAYE audits/investigations, pensions and PAYE queries. An understanding of the UK rules around IR35 and partnership/self employment would be helpful. The role will also involve assisting the Senior Manager and other team members to assess complex situations and reach technical opinions. The role will be working within an international tax environment and there will be opportunities to become involved in expatriate-related issues if this is an area of interest. Responsibilities will include: Responsibility for a client list in conjunction with the Senior Managers, including developing client portfolio Joining Senior Managers at client meetings Assisting with the management and completion of year-end compliance processes Answering queries from internal clients and payroll team Providing employment tax support to colleagues' clients Drafting employment tax audit reports Establishing and developing relationships with colleagues within the wider practice and leverage these to gain work from existing clients Managing work in progress, debtors and bills Risk management assessment and communication with senior managers and Directors Continually developing and updating own technical knowledge Coordination with senior managers on workflow Participation in monthly internal knowledge sharing sessions Future opportunities to be responsible for and provide constructive support to junior staff Person Specification Essential: Solid, comprehensive and up-to-date UK employment tax knowledge An understanding of the operations of UK employment tax matters, ideally in an international context ATT / CTA / similar qualification, or equivalent qualified by experience Previous experience of working at Assistant Manager level within employment tax Experience of assisting to manage a client portfolio Excellent internal communication and relationship development at all levels Strong communication and organisational skills, including experience dealing with clients in person and via emails/telephone calls Demonstrated experience of technical writing for varied audiences Ability to work to time based targets Ability to work accurately Keen attention to detail Desirable General knowledge of domestic social security requirements
