Purpose of role Working within a team, this role will focus on reducing the aged debt for the UK offices that is in excess of 1 year old. This involves frequent interaction with clients, partners and fee earners. Responsibilities Credit Control: Work alongside the Credit Control Manager on reducing the level of unpaid invoices over a year old in the UK offices. Assisting the Credit Control Manager with ad hoc monthly reports Assist the Credit Control team with reducing unpaid invoices over 50k. Chasing debts by telephone with a minimum of 25 calls and at least an hour call time per day Be proactive in booking and attending meetings with partners, agreeing appropriate strategies to collect aged and/or difficult debts Building relationships with partners and fee earners to ensure collection policy is adhered to Dealing with clients via telephone as a priority, with email only used as an additional tool for collection, maximising the number of calls made against targets for the month. Assisting with daily banking and identifying BACS, CHAPS & Cheque payments Maintaining detailed and accurate notes regarding debtors on ARCS accounts system. General: Dealing with queries from partners, fee earners and secretaries. Providing general assistance to the Revenue team with ad hoc projects, as required. Working with our UK, Europe and other worldwide offices where applicable Willingness to work beyond core business hours to meet clients' expectations including assisting the team at month end with the billing process Required experience, skills and attributes Previous experience of working in a credit control environment, and a good knowledge and understanding of credit control. Experience of working in a law firm (or similar) would be an advantage, but is not essential Possesses the confidence to deal effectively with clients, partners and fee earners Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal Methodical approach to work, with a strong focus on accuracy Able to prioritise and multi-task, particularly when working under pressure and to tight deadlines Able to interact positively at all levels within a law firm and be a team player Can demonstrate initiative and the ability to be proactive, while also being able to follow instructions and provide support to the Credit Control Manager & Revenue Manager Hardworking and enthusiastic approach to work; professional in outlook, attitude and appearance Confident using MS Office, including Word and Excel Knowledge of ARCS and the Elite accounts system would be an advantage Flexible and prepared to work additional hours at month, quarter and year ends to assist the Revenue team with month end processes Excellent written and verbal communication skills Highly structured and organised individual, with good attention to detail, accuracy and quality Able to interact positively at all levels within the firm and a good team player Able to demonstrate good client/customer facing skills Able to make decisions and remain calm while under pressure - particularly when dealing with difficult situations Proactive with a "can-do" attitude in all areas, with a strong sense of self-motivation.
