Within the Finance department and reporting to the Head of Project & Fund Accounting, you’ll support Kew’s mission as a key member of this team, ensuring that Kew’s project managers and senior staff receive the support and financial information required in managing grant-funded research projects.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • supporting all financial aspects of Kew’s varied portfolio of grant-funded research projects, providing knowledge and expertise on the preparation, submission, monitoring and reporting of grant-funded project budgets,
  • supporting on the provision of monthly management accounts, forecasting and budgeting for Kew’s Science Directorate which has an annual budget of around £20m
  • working collaboratively on funding proposals with colleagues across Kew, including within the Science and Fundraising directorates, and liaising with external funding bodies as required,
  • the critical review and monitoring of business cases, project budgets and forecasts, including for Kew’s Capital Development Programme

Qualifications and experience:

With proven experience of funded project accounting, you will be part of a team of 4 delivering on the section’s objectives. You will have a track record of providing a professional and supportive interface with non-Finance colleagues across a diverse organisation. Knowledge of project accounting is essential, and some experience of working with external funders across the research sector would be desirable.
