Portslade Salary/Rate: £30K - £40k (Experience dependant) Permanent Position The Company A well established local building contractor in portslade with a strong pipeline of work have a requirement for an Account Manager to join their team reporting to the Senior Accountant. The Assistant Accountant position is a varied position reporting to the Senior Accountant. The successful applicant will be expected to provide excellent support by effectively maintaining most aspects of the accounting function. Responsibilities Sales invoicing and accurate allocation of client project invoicing using Sage 50 Aged debtor analysis and credit control by telephone and email Allocation of sales receipts and retentions Client project account reconciliations Supplier invoicing - accurate project coding allocation of supplier invoices Reconciling monthly supplier statements, posting supplier discount allowed and supplier payments Dealing with supplier and customer account queries Processing weekly Subcontractor payments on Sage ready for importing into bank Submission of CIS/VAT returns via tax digital Bank reconciliations - weekly Balance sheet reconciliations and cost analysis Maintaining an efficient filing system and other administrative duties. Dealing with enquiries, ensuring calls are directed efficiently and messages are passed on quickly as appropriate. Ensuring the office environment is maintained to a professional standard Providing cover for holiday and absence Assisting in the implementation and maintaining of Sage Construct. Person Specification AAT qualified/part qualified An experienced Assistant accountant with strong sales ledger experience and who is used to working in a business which generates a high volume of transactions. General accounts 'all-rounder 'would be an advantage Attention to detail and accuracy a must Ideally with experience in the construction industry but this isn't essential if the person has a strong SME accounting background. Proof of stability and progression with previous employers. Well-organised, efficient, self-motivated, professional, business-like, proactive and switched-on. A positive person who wins the trust of colleagues and external contacts and takes real pride in their work. Comfortable working in a construction type of business, happy with banter and with a good sense of humour. Very computer-literate with experience in the use of accounts packages such as Sage, Sage Construct. Confident in the use of Excel. A team player who is happy to muck-in and undertake a wide range of tasks.
