The incumbent will play an integral role in the overall financial management of the Services Business. This will include Leading the Financial Planning and Analysis function for Ciena Services which encompasses full P&L and Balance Sheet support. Responsibilities Managing end to end Service financials both from a results perspective as well as from a short and long-term strategic planning perspective Ability to proactively monitor financial business results, understand and interprets variances as well as business challenges, make recommendations and drive to re-align the business in order to achieve the desired financial objectives. Proactively works with the Services organization to identify opportunities for process improvements and driving analytical insights. Responsible for leading the Services Forecasting process including providing Orders, Revenue and Margin guidance to Ciena Regions This requires the ability to work closely with other groups as well as having the ability to influence other regional team members Demonstrated knowledge of the Services engagement and delivery cycle including the ability to understand and influence The trade-offs between external and internal delivery strategies Knowledgeable around various delivery and cost recovery mechanisms Understands the various Revenue Recognition methods between Product/Software and Services. An expert in understanding Services accounting Revenue recognition, Cost recognition, Accounting for Services R&D, OPEX, Cost Not in Standards etc. Is an expert in understanding and establishing best practices in measuring and reporting labor costing. Is a mentor and a leader to both direct reports and others in the organization. Manage a small team of Finance professionals Provide senior leadership coverage for FP&A VP when needed (vacation, travel etc.) General Activities Ability to forecast all aspects the Services Financials. Short-term as well as long-term Short term Current Quarter/ In-Year Longer Term Operating plan/Strategic Plan Provides Orders/Revenue/Margin Guidance to all regions which is based on collaborative analysis and modelling. Understands and challenges when there are differences in financial views. Responsible for evaluating and recommending go/no-go financial investments New Service Introduction (NSI), Cost Reduction, Tools evaluation, New Business evaluation Provides analytical insights to the organization Guides the team through difficult technical or business-related challenges. Ensure resources are given challenging and rewarding development The individual is a change agent for the Services organization as well as for the FP&A team Collaboration with stakeholders Ability to work closely with other Ciena groups. Key areas include Services GM, Bus Operations, key Delivery Leaders, Regional Service Leaders, Accounting, Supply Chain (Repair), Other FP&A groups, Human Resources Experience A proven track record in managing and leading a Services focused team of professionals Demonstrates the necessary leadership and innovative skills to be part of the Services core leadership team. Experience assisting with strategy development and implementation Strong commercial business acumen Proven ability to monitor financial discipline and accountability within a global support organization Qualifications Ten plus years of financial experience in a delivery environment A CPA or equivalent designation and or experience. Excellent finance, planning and accounting skills Previous Managerial experience Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication and presentation skills Knowledge of financial/ERP systems and Microsoft office products Proven ability to monitor financial discipline and accountability within a global support organization Rewarding experience.
