We are looking for an accountancy professional to join the world's leading chartered professional body for people responsible for safety and health in the workplace on their Audit and Risk Committee, to help the Board of Trustees fulfil its role as the ultimate decision-making body of the Institution. Position: Audit and Risk Committee Member

Location:
The role will require a commitment to attend four committee meetings a year near Leicester, UK, in addition to preparation time and occasional additional meetings where circumstances require it.

Salary:
The role is unremunerated; however reasonable expenses will be paid. Duration: Committee members are usually appointed for a period of three years. Closing Date: 13th November Interview Date: Date in December to be confirmed Our client has four Board Committees which support the Trustees in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities to the Institution. The committees have delegated responsibilities and tasks to fulfil, regularly reporting to the Board and providing assurance that their key purpose is being achieved. The committees are made up of IOSH Trustees, IOSH members and independent (non-lOSH) members. The Role The Audit and Risk Committee Member will: - Ensure that the Institution is adhering to accounting standards and recommend annual accounts and accounting policies to the Board of Trustees for approval. - Ensure the competence, effectiveness, independence and objectivity of external and internal auditors. - Scrutinise accounting and risk management policies, the Council's election process and assure the robustness of each. - Keep informed about the activities of the Institution and wider issues which affect its work. - Declare any potential conflicts of interest while carrying out the duties of an Independent Committee Member. In addition to the duties of all committee members, each Independent Committee Member should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the committee reach sound decisions. About you As an Independent Member of the Audit and Risk Committee, you will also be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of the following: - An accountancy background, being a full member of CIMA or a CCAB accounting body - Experience of financial management and accounting policies - Knowledge of governance arrangements - Experience at senior level in a business environment and/ or relevant qualifications - An ability to think in a strategic, innovative, modern, agile and flexible way - An interest in the work undertaken by the Institution - A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to fulfil the duties of a committee member, to take part in any relevant appraisal scheme and to use email and video conference About the Organisation Our client is the world's leading chartered professional body for people responsible for safety and health in the workplace - with over 47,000 members in more than 130 countries.
