We're currently seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work for our client, a thriving manufacturing/engineering company in North Manchester. Owing to tenders won, they are seeking to add to their commercial team. Financial support may also be given to the successful candidate to achieve their degree, if not yet degree-qualified. The Client At the forefront of their industry sector, our client works with a variety of blue-chip clients globally, delivering a specific engineering solution to many and varied industries including nuclear, defence & security, offshore, petrochemical, rail, aerospace etc. They are the leading global company within this sector, with the biggest portfolio of products and have been in business for over 100 years, working with some of the most prestigious clients in their fields. The Role Ideally familiar with NEC Contracts (particularly Option E), the successful candidate will carry out a range of standard commercial duties across a number of contracts as follows; Providing assistance with month end reports, including cash flow forecasts etc. Helping prepare and submit monthly cost value reconciliations and cash/ spend profiles. Attending contract review meetings Providing support with measuring, submitting and agreeing variations, loss & expenses and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of final accounts Assisting the Finance Department in securing payment of invoices and/or applications for payment Support will be given, where possible, to the successful candidate to progress their career - so you will be included on relevant site visits, meetings etc. Travel to sites may also be required, with an occasional overnight stay in the UK. The Candidate You should ideally be qualified to degree standard, although financial support may be given to the successful candidate to achieve their degree. Experience in the manufacturing engineering sector, particularly in the steel works industry, is desirable; alternatively or additionally, commercial experience within the construction sector is also of interest. You should have excellent IT skills and be familiar with the relevant software needed to complete your work. You should be dynamic with a desire to succeed and help your team wherever possible. You should be an excellent communicator - verbal and written.
