Highclere Castle has an exciting opportunity for a full time Accounts Assistant Highclere Castle is a globally recognised brand and one of the most famous historic houses in England. The Castle has become well known as the location of the successful TV series Downton Abbey and attracts thousands of visitors and many events throughout the year. Highclere is also a working estate with its own farming property management business. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to work within a small accounts team, with exposure to the wider business. Hours are Monday to Friday from 09.00 until 17.00. Duties include: Main Duties of the role Manage and process all aspects of bookkeeping for a number of different entities, including: Processing purchase invoices, posting supplier payments and reconciling supplier statements Preparing and processing weekly supplier payment runs Processing sales invoices, posting sales receipts and producing customer statements Preparing weekly aged debtor reports Updating accounting entries and reconciling to bank statements daily Reconciling petty cash payments Processing expense claims Assisting with the preparation of monthly or quarterly VAT returns Assisting with the preparation of monthly Management Reports with supporting information Processing intercompany recharges Posting journal entries. General Other duties within this role will include some Human Resources and payroll administration. Qualifications and experience required for this role: Essential Previous accounting experience in a similar role is essential Must be highly motivated with the ability to prioritise, manage own workload and work under pressure to deadlines Ability to learn quickly, high level of attention to detail and highly numerate Knowledge and experience of application of VAT coding Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Enthusiasm to provide the highest quality service at all times with a "Can Do" attitude and strong work ethic Computer literate with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and a high level of capability in Excel to perform required tasks Desirable Exposure to a range of different accounting packages would be an advantage.
