Senior Financial Accountant

Your new company

I am currently managing the recruitment of the London Fire Brigade to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant on a permanent basis who are based in Southwark, London.

Your new role

Reporting into the Head of Technical Finance, you will be responsible for providing expert technical accounting advice and guidance which will include implementing new changes, requirements and improvements. You will prepare the annual statement of accounts and take on a key role in the development and monitoring of accounts closure processes including leading on accounting for non-current assets and asset valuations. You will liaise with internal and external auditors responding to queries as well as supporting the production of the annual capital programme, strategy and monitoring including providing advice and challenge as appropriate. Furthermore, you will effectively manage a team (currently two) providing support and development and, you will demonstrate and promote innovation and continuous improvement of service delivery.

What you'll need to succeed

It is essential to be a qualified CCAB or CIMA accountant with advanced Excel skills. It is essential to have experience of financial accounting and statements of accounts preparation within local government. It is essential to have experience of interpreting, advising and implementing accounting requirements. In addition, you will have previous staff management responsibilities.

What you'll get in return

In return you will receive a salary of between £44,872 - £58,266 per annum, dependant on experience, including an excellent benefits package.
