Job Details
Our company is looking for an entry-level CIMA accountant who will continue with their studies and qualification while being instrumental in the growth of the company, assuming a gradually more senior role as our company grows. As a start-up of three years, the company has grown from one Top Company to a group of companies with 11 directly-owned subsidiaries and 11 franchises. It’s the aim to launch another batch of direct units in the Lent Term 2020 and reach 100 clubs in 5 years.
The CIMA student will be eager to deploy what they learn at CIMA, to support strong corporate governance and confidence for potential investors both in the near term and perhaps in preparation for an IPO on AIM at some time in the future.
Responsibilities / Tasks
- Manage financial forecasting across the company and its subsidiaries, to maximise the available cash for investment and bring cash to bear as required to take on new leases.
- Facilitate business plans with inputs from Directors for presentation to potential investors.
- Develop monthly reports for the directors and KPI’s
- Implement the year-end closeout accounting schedules in cooperation with our accountants Menzies.
- Create new internal accounting corporate policies under guidance from and in cooperation with Menzies with a view to minimizing examination fees.
- Calculate and invoice Franchise management fees and pay commission to staff initially using existing formulas.
- Introduce strong corporate governance of purchasing cost of goods.
- Implement a new club opening process to control the impact on the financial forecast and support the start-up process with financial administration.
It’s required that the candidate continue their CIMA qualification, and 1.5 paid days off for sitting an exam and 1 day off for the exam is available. Costs of the examination will be borne by the company, together with a contract to reimburse the company if the candidate terminates the contract within a defined period following qualification. Pay will be adjusted according to recognised salary levels as the candidate passes operational and managerial qualifications.
Experience and skills
- Relevant degree in finance or maths
- Highly proficient in Excel.
- Entry-level CIMA status.
- Involvement with business plans would be an advantage.
- Experience of Xero software would be an advantage..
Compensation
- £30k basic
- £3K yearly bonus based on meeting performance targets
- 28 days paid holiday including bank holidays
- 1.5 days study leave plus 1 day off for the exam
