Overview: Group Tax manages the Bank's tax affairs through its two functions, Tax Reporting and Compliance and Tax Advisory Services: Tax Reporting and Compliance is responsible for internal and external tax reporting and disclosures, tax accounting policies, the Bank's effective tax rate and other key tax metrics. This function also manages the Bank's compliance with local tax obligations, tax filings, and tax audits and disputes. Tax Advisory Services partners with business areas and other infrastructure functions across the Bank to provide tax advice on business transactions and products, corporate acquisitions and divestitures, and internal structuring and organization. The function is responsible for tax related risk parameters in these areas and collaboration with governmental bodies in connection with the development of tax legislation. Key

Responsibilities:
Providing tax advice and support to front office teams and infrastructure functions in connection with UK Region tax matters with specific focus on Capital Release Unit transactions. Reviewing new products and transactions and considering them for approval, in line with applicable internal policies Working on special projects and initiatives including reorganisations and M&A. Contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of processes and controls applicable to the Tax Advisory function, including capturing know-how and designing and implementing preventative controls to identify and manage risks Providing advice and assistance on everyday ad hoc matters, such as International Swaps and Derivatives Association documentation, loan agreements (including Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) language), tax residency and substance, etc Coordinating and assisting in connection with matters such as complying with Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs information requests Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience of tax advisory work within the tax department of a professional services firm and/or equivalent experience within the advisory team of an in-house tax function Solid technical grounding in UK corporate tax matters, with some experience in international tax matters. Knowledge and experience in other UK areas (such as Value-added Tax, employee taxes, stamp duty and operational taxes) would be a bonus Able to communicate complex technical subject matter to a non-technical audience, both in written form and in oral discussions Comfortable giving occasional training sessions to tax colleagues, businesses and infrastructure functions Responsive to business and management requests and willing to take responsibility for seeing things through Able to reach a view on matters, discuss that with management and uphold the corporate decision Willing to share your knowledge and experience with others on the team on a pro-active basis Prepared to learn core tax accounting principles Willing to engage with the Finance function and Tax Reporting colleagues to understand fully the impact of transactions in the financial statements Keen to keep your technical knowledge up to date and expand your areas of expertise Our values define the working environment we strive to create - diverse, supportive and welcoming of different views.
