Totum are delighted to be working with one of the City's pre-eminent legal search firms in its hunt for a qualified accountant to become its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Reporting into the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the rest of the Board, this is a key recruit for this ambitious firm. This is an international firm with offices in the UK, Europe and Asia, the COO will be based in the London office. The role has a broad range of responsibilities of both a financial and operational nature. As the most senior member of the firm's business services these responsibilities may extend beyond the original specifications and it requires an individual with the versatility and experience to be able to react to the business's requirements as and when they arise. The firm's financial hygiene from a controls, cash-flow, statutory compliance and tax perspective all fall under the COO's remit. The COO will set the annual budget for the firm, working with the Directors and Managers to hit and exceed financial targets. The role has oversight of the preparation of the monthly management accounts, presenting them to the Board and highlighting any areas requiring further discussion. The COO will have ownership of many of the third-party supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and periodically reviewing them. With the Terms Committee input, any terms and conditions agreed with clients will be negotiated and signed by the COO. The COO will also manage all areas of HR, Marketing, IT, Administration and Front of House either directly or via the Office Manager and Marketing Manager. The IT systems maintenance and improvement will be overseen by the COO. Applicants should be qualified accountants who have operated at a senior managerial level with demonstrable experience of working in the recruitment sector. The firm is looking to grow its interims' business and previous experience of dealing with IR35 issues and setting up the necessary infrastructure to build a recruitment firm in this area is a must have. A broader skill-set than just finance is also highly desirable. Follow us on LinkedIn or visit our website for insights and market trends.
