Our client, an accountancy and business advisory firm based in Liverpool City Centre is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join the VAT function team. Role Overview: The VAT support function is one of numerous compliance based streams within my clients rapidly growing Shared Service Centre (SSC). SSC team members work internally within the business providing support to the client facing members of the firm. The Role: This will be a challenging and rewarding role where you will: Support regional client facing insolvency teams by preparing VAT returns for submission to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Prepare recurring VAT 100 returns as well as VAT forms 193, 426, 427, 652 and 833 as required Work extensively with our bespoke insolvency practitioners software Reconcile VAT control accounts to ensure all output VAT due is paid to HMRC, and all input VAT available is vouched and reclaimed Deliver team outputs to agreed internal and statutory timescales, quality and volume Deal with internal queries with colleagues and teams across BDO UK Liaise via telephone with HMRC to confirm submissions captured on their system and recover debts due to our clients Provide support to other colleague teams dependent upon seasonality of core work Technical requirements and professional skills: Relevant degree or ongoing study towards AAT qualification Previous VAT experience an advantage but not essential, full training will be provided. IT skills - strong working knowledge of MS Excel, other MS products and similar desktop applications. Willingness to learn new systems is essential Well presented Professional level of communication - both verbal and written. Confident speaking to external agencies such as HMRC is key Good time management, organisation skills and the ability to prioritise and complete tasks with limited supervision Ability to work well in a team environment Cordant Group is an equal opportunities employer
