At the Cabinet Office we support the Prime Minister and the Minister for the Cabinet Office in delivering key objectives and milestones which help to form the wider government. The Cabinet office is both a "corporate centre" for government and a policy department in its own right that challenges, supports, leads and provides services to other Ministerial Departments. The Cabinet Office currently employs 6,000 people who are in a variety of roles across the UK. The FEDG team is a growing, friendly group of experts in counter fraud, debt and grants who coordinate and drive activities across the public sector, challenging everyone to reduce the loss of public money in these areas. It is a function, which provides strategic leadership and sets cross-government standards for fraud, error, debt and grant initiatives. Estimates show government could be losing between £37 and £49 billion per year to fraud and error. Debt owed to government currently stands at £22bn. Grant spending accounts for £115 billion spend each year, which is around 20% of government expenditure. Since 2010 the Fraud, Error, Debt and Grants team have helped contribute to overall efficiency and reform savings of more than £20 billion against a 2009-2010 baseline. This role forms part of the Finance and Planning team, a small close-working support team that sits across and supports the wider FEDG team. Key

responsibilities:

• Projecting, tracking and reconciling spend across the £6m portfolio, including producing management information reporting for the Senior Leadership Team;
• Supporting, scrutinising and submitting bids for funding approval;
• Working with relevant team members to develop and maintain monthly finance forecast.
• Arranging processes to ensure suppliers are paid;
• Develop and maintain a working relationship with the Cabinet Office Corporate Finance team and gain a good operational understanding of their processes and requirements;
• Assisting in annual business planning preparation
• Conducting assurance on the general ledger, ensuring that payments are correctly posted (GL integrity)
• Support management of the FEDG budget
• Raising new purchase orders, and managing existing ones.
• Providing management information, including but not limited to monthly finance report to Deputy Directors Note: An employee may be required to carry out other duties within the scope of the grade and within the limits of their skill, competence and training; the post holder may also occasionally be required to carry out responsibilities at a higher level. Skills:
• Strong administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks organisation skills and the ability to manage several important and urgent tasks at once.
• Effective prioritisation skills. Experience
• A team player and willingness to work collaboratively within a small team.
• Ability to remain professional in a highly pressurised environment
• A very good working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong stakeholder management, customer relations and communication skills, demonstrating an ability to engage with senior officials.
• Proven track record of finance support, delivering work accurately and to deadlines.
• Understand the principles of financial accounting. Benefits:
