Reporting to the COO and managing a team of two direct reports, the Finance Manager is responsible for all finance tasks, ensuring appropriate processes and controls are delivered efficiently and effectively, with a high degree of accuracy and in a manner that non-finance staff will engage with. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a variety of changing responsibilities and demands.

Client Details

The client is a creative NFP in the city centre of Edinburgh.


  • Supervise a team of 2

  • Encourage and drive quality and continuous improvement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and external partners

  • Monitor and report on cashflow

  • Ensure month end tasks are completed satisfactorily and Balance Sheet schedules are prepared

  • To prepare the monthly management accounts, including departmental reports

  • To develop insights to support informed decision-making by colleagues and senior management

  • Monitor and improve financial control systems

  • Ensure that payroll and employee expenses are efficiently and effectively processed

  • Complete statutory and financial reporting to external authorities

  • Ensure monthly and quarterly statutory returns such as PAYE and VAT are made and paid timeously

  • Ensure operational compliance with the company's regulatory responsibilities

  • Assist in the year end preparation of Statutory Accounts and Audit

  • Maintenance of Group Fixed Asset Register and Depreciation calculations

  • Oversee the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials and metrics

  • Manage the annual budgeting process

  • To develop, implement and maintain the Finance Manual


  • Newly Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CA, ACA)

  • Ability to prioritise responsibilities and tasks, and coach others to do similar

  • Excellent thoroughness and attention to detail

  • Good communication skills, able to partner with colleagues of all levels, senior management and external partners

  • A "team player", consistently modelling positive, collaborative behaviours

  • Organisation skills

  • Ability to delegate tasks, allocate work and supervise others
