SF Recruitment are currently looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join a service business in Derbyshire. The purpose of the role is to manage and maintain the operation of the financial accounting function including treasury and taxation as part of the Financial Accounting team. To assist in the delivery of an effective and compliant service to support the Head of Financial Accounting and Appraisal. Responsibilities:
- Take lead on the financial accounting and business appraisal of the Finance Department and deliver an effective and compliant service to report to the Head of Accounting in providing financial direction, control and advice to the organisation - Taking lead and accountability on review and reporting on key risk and opportunities on key areas such as Fixed Assets, VAT returns and advice on tax issues, Treasury, Project Accounting & supporting the bidding and partnerships activity - Report back to the Head of Accounting for review and support decision making - Apply the accounting standards, disciplines and controls necessary to ensure the integrity of the general ledger to achieve a high level of compliance via review of balance sheet reconciliations and reporting key risks and opportunities to the Head of Accounting - To review and analyse the development of forecasted cash flow and monitoring of actuals vs. forecast and refinement of the forecasting to improve accuracy and value add reporting back to the management. This will involve managing a small team to ensure we are able to meet the key deliverables and changes in the team. - Review and supporting of putting together the balance sheet reporting including accounting treatment, forecasting and presentation for internal and statutory purposes. Reporting on the key risk and opportunities on the balance sheet and improving the process and controls around the reporting - To review and support on periodic internal reports on projects, expenditures, balance sheet, cash and treasury for all of the organisations companies; assist in preparation of financial plans, budgets and forecasts; support delivery of the intended financial targets - To provide periodic external reports to stakeholders, including the Annual Accounts, for information, compliance and assurance purposes - Provide effective financial planning, direction, reporting and advice to the organisation - Take line management responsibility as required, including coaching, setting objectives and performing appraisal feedback - Develop relevant and impactful reporting for the changing needs of the organisation - Monitor bank accounts and investments as an integral part of treasury management; taking appropriate recommendation to enable effective cash management in a risk controlled environment - Co-ordinate and assist on approved capital expenditures; maintain accurate asset registers; provide information on capital expenditure, depreciation, revaluation, grants received and realized - Take lead on liaising with external advisors and colleagues on tax initiatives to minimize the ongoing tax burden and ensure you report back to the Head of Accounting for relevant decision making - Liaise with the treasury partners, banks, tax advisors, internal and external auditors - To apply the accounting standards, disciplines and controls necessary to ensure the integrity of the operation and achieve a high level of process compliance - Take any necessary interventions to ensure budgets and forecasts are achieved - Continuously assess levels of financial risk as part of risk management - Support and manage a team of qualified and assistant accountants, managing workloads and optimizing output from the team on an ongoing basis You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) with previous experience of managing direct reports. You will have commercial acumen, with the ability to cope with and drive change and manage multiple projects. You will have previous experience of working within a similar role.
