Together we aim to:Improve our understanding of disease and uncovering new targetsTransform R&D processesSpeed the design and delivery of new medicines for patientsThe newly formed R&D Data Science Learning & Development function will uplift the level of data science capabilities across R&D, ensuring that all can benefit from a centralized approach to these critical areas. The team will focus on both senior leaders and project teams to ensure strong partnership, capability development for solid data science foundations, DS&AI learning opportunities and extending Data Science communities for knowledge sharing, ideation and social learning.As part of the R&D Data Science Learning & Development team, the Data Science Learning Director will be an integral part of the team ensuring the long-term success of data science at AstraZeneca. The role holder will be responsible for developing and delivering a centralized approach to Data Science learning in R&D. Working across R&D and capability functions to design and deliver the optimal education programme for R&D leaders, scientists and data science practitioners within an enterprise framework. This role will be key change influencer, driving organization required to enable successful and sustained adoption of DS&AI by supporting the data-first strategy.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop a clear strategy for engagement and data science learning across R&D, with specific attention to senior leaders (SET-1 & SET-2) and high influencers.Create a centralized approach to data science learning for all levels of the R&D organization, aligned with Enterprise Digital Strategy and needs of R&D Data Science LeadersBring data science learning to senior leaders and scientists, to inspire and gain commitment for the data-first agenda and encourage strong partnership with DS&AIDevelop and oversee a sustainable education framework which includes experiential learning, mentoring and coursesEnsure awareness of education and learning offerings across data science communities, which translates into energy and excitement within those communities and high participation and completion ratesInfluence the work of colleagues across R&D, creating a network of R&D trainers to realize the objectives of Data Science Learning in R&DIdentify and manage external vendors and experts for software tools, education materials and delivery, managing associated budgetDevelop deep knowledge of DS&AI functions and portfolio of work, to articulate appropriately with R&D leaders and project teams and support DS&AI leaders in their interactionsDevelop metrics to measure and monitor impact, and report to governance committees on success, risk and mitigationsDevelop strong connections across functions to 'spoke' data science teams and Science ITEssential RequirementsBSc in a Life Science, Computer Science or equivalent experienceExperience with implementing large-scale awareness campaigns and education programmesKnowledge of the psychology of motivation and behavioral influence in change managementExperience of working in a complex global organizationExperience of influencing and controlling budgetsProven ability to manage senior stakeholdersLife-long-learner with experience of multiple modes of learning and awareness of MOOCs and data science educational offeringsExcellent communication skills and facilitation skillsNext Steps - Apply todayDataAITo be considered for this exciting opportunity, please complete the full application on our website at your earliest convenience - it is the only way that our Recruiter and Hiring Manager can know that you feel well qualified for this opportunity.
