Assistant Finance Director This job is now closing now on 1st November Circa £70000 PA dependent on experience Benefits and pay reviews. The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health is a professional membership body concerned with environmental health and promoting standards in the training and education of environmental health. You will be a proven fully qualified CCAB member with extensive post qualification experience. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Corporate Services you will ensure that the finance department provides professional and financial support to the entire organisation, senior managers and assist in reporting to the board and trustees in an accurate and timely manner. You will deputise for the Director of Finance and Corporate Services in their absence and work with them to implement strategic decisions. You will have 4 senior direct reports to manage and appraise within the finance team. Key objectives of the position include: Ensure all financial transactions are recorded and processed in compliance with the agreed internal control framework in a timely and accurate manner ensuring receipts and payments are managed appropriately. Support the Director of Finance and Corporate Services in reviewing the management accounts and forecasts, preparing the commentary prior to distribution/publication as necessary and ensure the finance team prepare the relevant reports to agreed timescales. Ensure the integrity of the organisation's financial systems, including all feeder systems (CRM/Payroll etc), and provide robust financial appraisal and monitoring of business development and capital projects. Oversee the finance team in managing the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, Risk and Audit committee and senior managers to ensure the production of the annual financial report and accounts to agreed deadlines. Provide a full financial management support service to the organisation ensuring that regular reports are produced, giving information on sales trends, volumes profitability analysis, business case preparation investment appraisal and performance monitoring; in general, meet the information requirements of the Executive Management Team. Along with the above you will support the management of senior external advisors from all sectors. You will be expected to attend all relevant internal and external meetings at senior level including; Trustees, directors and Sub-Committee Members. Auditors, HRM, Insurance and Investment advisors, and all other external bodies that work with CIEH. The following essential qualities required by the post holder. Demonstrate commitment to all CIEH core values and behaviours, as well as. Able to demonstrate the ability to develop organisational strategy in the context of the finance function Detailed knowledge and competency of integrated financial accounting systems and associated report writing skills Substantial experience within charity/not for profit sector with excellent UK GAAP, Charity SORP and IFRS reporting expertise including completion of statutory accounts of a medium sized charity
