Are you seeking to progress your career within a fast-growing retail company with an exciting business plan? Are you comfortable working up to trial balance on an autonomous basis but keen to develop into providing management accounts under the tutelage of a part-time FD? Our client is an exciting retail business which offers something a little different to its competitors and is gaining real traction in its market. They are looking for an enthusiastic, well organised accountant to run the accounting function and look after the general office administration of their rapidly growing business. The role requires a self-starter who can make decisions, will chase for information, but is not afraid to ask for guidance. As the company grows the role has potential to expand and may require a more junior accountant to report to this role in the future. Reporting to the Managing Director and a part-time Finance Director, your responsibilities will include: Cash flow. Prepare daily cash flow forecast each morning and prepare weekly report each Monday for management team. The key is to alert the management team to potential problems well in advance. Data input onto the finance system. Cover all aspects of data entry onto the Xero finance system. Uploading the feeds from the bank system, input of purchase invoices, and input of sales invoices for B2B customers. Control and reconciliation. Daily cash from tills, bank reconciliations monthly, supplier ledger ensuring that proper invoices are posted for every payment and balances outstanding are reconciled to supplier statements monthly, debtors ledger ensuring invoices are properly raised and payments chased on a timely basis, update fixed asset register monthly, monthly payroll reconciliations are prepared, and prepayments and accruals are scheduled and reviewed at the end of every month. Reporting: Sales weekly and monthly, first draft of management accounts prepared within 5 working days of the month end. Payroll preparation. Data sent to the payroll bureau on a timely basis. Insurance in place for all business locations as required by law and renewed on a timely basis. Buildings - Head Office. Ensure all legal requirements are covered including Health and Safety. As the successful candidate you will: Be AAT, PQ ACCA/CIMA Demonstrate the ability to manage accounts up to trial balance and have a desire to expand your skill-set Have experience of working with Xero and be competent using Excel.
